Eileithyia is a Greek goddess.

AbodeEdit

Eileithyia is the goddess of childbirth. She is the goddess that furthers the birth and protracts the labor. Hera forbid Eileithyia to allow Leto to give birth but eventually she was persuaded into letting Eileithyia allow her to give birth. Hera also told Eileithyia to not allow Alcmene to give birth so that she and the baby, Heracles, would die. However, Alcmene's handmaiden, Galinthias, saw the goddess and yelled out, "a son is born!" Eileithyia threw her hands in the air in surprise and released her grip on the baby, allowing Alcmene to give birth.
